The plan focuses on community by clustering social areas -- living, dining, cooking & studying -- at the front of the house.

Placing these spaces adjacent to the major public space of the house -- the front porch -- extends the interior to the exterior, and vice versa.

As the most generous volume in the house, the living room demonstrates its importance and serves as a connection between the upper and lower levels.
